Hello. Thanks for taking the time to at least look me up. I’m sorry that I don’ have much here at the moment, but rest assured that I am developing this site rather than sitting on it like some third-rate domain name squatter.
My name is Dan Schulz and I’m a freelance front-end Web developer living in Aurora, Illinois. I currently work exclusively online, but am preparing to enter the local market so I can serve the needs of the community's businesses and organizations.
I specialize in making Web sites by hand using clean, minimal, semantic and valid HTML and CSS markup on an architectural level (meaning that instead of building Web sites piecemeal, I build them as an integrated and structured network of Web pages that are easy for people to use) with an emphasis on accessibility and usability (which has the added benefit of having Web pages that are already optimized for the major search engines).
When I am not building Web sites, I can be found helping others become better Web designers and developers on such forums as Digital Point, the IWDN Forums, Web Developer Forums, SitePoint, where I have been a Mentor on the Design Team since April 2007 and an Advisor since February 2008, and the SEO.com Forums, where I have been a forum moderator since December 2007.
I do enjoy other hobbies, such as playing card and table-top miniature games, watching movies, and reading whatever interests me at any given time (whether it is SitePoint's latest book, a biography on Lord Mountbatten or a classic Stephen King or Tom Clancy novel). I don’t watch a lot of TV, since I no longer have one, but I do keep up with current events nonetheless.
Anyway, now that you know a little bit about me, please keep an eye on this page for updates. I plan to officially launch this Web site once the layout has been finalized and the graphics created (the overall layout is done, it's just the addition of the fine details to bring it to life that needs to be done; well, that and adding the text content).
