Awards, Recognition, and Online Community Involvement
Over the past couple years, I have been recognized for the wide variety of contributions I have made to the Web design and development community. A few are listed below:
2007 Web Design Guru and Member of the Year (SitePoint Forums)
I’ve been acknowledged as the 2007 Web design guru (as well as an outstanding member of the community) at the SitePoint Forums for my contributions to the forum in the areas of accessibility, information architecture, HTML, CSS, and usability. SitePoint Pty. Ltd., a leading publisher of Web design and development books, kits, and articles, even posted a list of eight articles I recommend everyone who wants to become a Web design guru read and understand. (In 2006, I finished second in the HTML and Web Design Guru competitions, respectively.)
SitePoint Forums Advisor
In April 2007 I was invited to join the staff at the SitePoint Forums as a Mentor on the Design Team. Mentors are the eyes and ears of the community, reporting spam and generally watching out for trouble, in addition to suggesting improvements to the community to the Advisors, Team Leaders and Community Administrators. In recognition for my hard work and dedication as a Mentor, I received a promotion to Advisor in February 2008. Advisors and Team Leaders are the forum moderators, and are responsible for ensuring that the forums run as smoothly as possible.
SEO.com Forum Administrator
I joined the forum staff of SEO.com in December 2007 as a forum moderator and helped oversee the launch of the SEO.com Forums prior to my promotion to forum administrator in July 2008. In addition to administering the forums, I also educate the SEO consultants on the importance of Web standards and proper Web development best practices, and how they can improve their sites’ rankings in the search engines.
